Renovation of the monastery continues

Work is also proceeding at a brisk pace on the monastery building. The contractor is replacing the roofing. The old elevator has been demolished, along with most of the unsuitable interior fixtures. Inside, water pipes are already being installed, and the courtyard has been dug up to lay new storm drains. The National Heritage Institute has approved the windows and interior doors, and these have been ordered for production. During construction work on the ground floor, staff from the heritage office discovered another stone portal, the renovation of which will be the focus of the next phase. Another stone portal at the entrance from the monastery floor to the church tower will be fitted with a door so that this opening, which was bricked up during the communist era, can be used occasionally in the future. As you can see, all work is proceeding under the careful supervision of heritage preservationists and an archaeologist, but unfortunately, no pot of gold was found either during the...

The renovation of the monastery has begun

Work on the renovation of the main monastery building began in January. Although this is only a partial renovation, it is nonetheless significant. In this phase, designated as Z1-ZUŠ, the roof covering will be replaced, an elevator will be installed, and restroom facilities will be built on three floors of the building, along with five classrooms for the music school and three rooms for museum and gallery spaces. The entire first floor will undergo a complete renovation, while the other floors will be partially renovated. Replacing the roof covering and the associated repairs to the roof structure are particularly important for preserving the historic building. Work will continue through October of this year without restricting access to the monastery garden or the Senior Community Center. Of course, extra caution will be necessary when moving around the construction site. Although the facade is not being repaired at this stage, scaffolding must be erected around the building due to...

Zašovská pilgrimage already this weekend

The day of the traditional Zašová pilgrimage, which this year falls on Sunday, 6 July, is approaching. This pilgrimage tradition began 300 years ago with the transfer of an ancient image of Our Lady of Zašová from the old timbered church to the new pilgrimage church. The present church was built by the Žerotín family because of this image and the large number of pilgrims who come to it. In this jubilee year, a HISTORICAL WALK THROUGH THE CHURCH, inspired by this event recorded by chroniclers, will take place as part of the Zašová pilgrimage. The parade is open to everyone who comes in Wallachian or other folk costume. The participants will meet in front of Medical Centre, from where the parade will set off at 9:45 am through the centre of the village towards the church. We invite you to participate actively, not only as spectators.Come with your children, a ceremonial cannon shot is expected. Together we will create a period atmosphere, as our ancestors could...

The two-year project is over

On 30 April we successfully completed a project supported by Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway through the EEA Funds. The main objective of the project was to increase the attractiveness of the unique cultural heritage of the Trinitarian monastery in the village of Zašová through an innovative form of presentation of the monument. The main output of the project is a digital mobile game with augmented reality, which aims to introduce visitors to the Trinitarian Order, its history and influence on the local region in a playful and innovative way. In addition, cultural and educational activities were also carried out and marketing tools were created to improve the presentation of the project. You can read about how everything came about and what experiences we took away from the project and want to share further in the final...
